As a result of conversations last night in US SAN /gchat (and seeing as the Euros are doing this as well), I thought it would also be cool for us on the US server to do vanilla WoW (and BC for that matter) raids. Hell, for that matter even WoTLK, if there is enough interest. The only caveats are these:
1, These raids will be for fun only! I think, well, actually, I know, based upon my interactions with y'all that we are not in this to get uber leet (or whatever the kiddies are saying nowadays) loot. This is merely an invitation to all who are interested to see old school content.
2. I think that it would be fun to try these with content level gear, i.e., Molten Core, etc. at 60, Kara, MgT, etc. at 70. Think of it as trying to capture (for those of us after-BC'ers) or recapture (for those of you vanilla'ers) the fun of raiding old school content with content appropriate gear.
Give it some thought and let me know if your interested.
p.s. Please do not think one has to powerlevel a toon just to participate. It will simply occur should, and if, we have enough interest and characters at the necessary level. In essence, when and if there is interest, I would be happy to handle the logistics of setting it up - I don't believe I have the necessary experience to lead, but if wipes aren't an issue, I can give it a go ;D

Count me in (as soon as my toons are big enough!). I started playing late BC so I never saw very much non-LK raid content. I love all the old raids and jump into them on my 80s every chance I get. And I love hearing stories from folks that played in vanilla too

I would love to join in. Started playing in WotLK here.
Right now I have Faeyel at level 60 and Phae's at level 65. I probably won't be doing it at an appropriate level, but I don't mind farming level 60 gear. ^^

I think this is a fantastic idea, having started in WotLK I feel like I have missed out on a lot of the old fun stuff. Count me in if I happen to be able to time it right.

I love this idea, I will have to work on getting my death knight up to level 60 though. Unfortunately he is not even out of the starting gate yet.

Count me in on this awesome idea! I've been pushing Wojolovik and hopefully will hit a level where I can jump in on this, currently at 42. I've been enjoying the guild...and when possible running with Mythbusting and Blorn in some randoms. This would be excellent getting a full SAN raid and having done only one or...nope only one 60 raid so far.

OK, seems that people are getting on board. Well, here are my initial thoughts (but, by no means any official dictum) regarding order, etc.
UPBR (10 per/lvl 60)* Zul'Gurub (20/60) AQ20 (20/60) MC (40/60) BWL (40/60) AQ40 (40/60)
*for these raids, indicates approximate level, I'm thinking 57-62 would be good. Additionally, an order like this will allow time for more people to get to 60 as we advance through the old world raids.
As an aside, SpiritusRex (DK) has been put on hold at 60 while I level up a shammy. I'm thinking of paying the 10G to turn off XP for him for the sole fact of being able to run all of these raids (and to do some PvP in AV while we gather more people) without dinging 61.
More to come.....

Definitely a fun idea. Did most of these in late Vanilla or with alts and 70s running us through. Would be fun to see it again at 60. Just don't know when I'll make it to that level. =)

Just don't know when I'll make it to that level. =) No worries, as I've changed my mind about my DK and have leveled some more with him. Therefore, I'll probably bring my shaman (lvl 14 currently), so I've got a little work to do as well (not the least of which is learning how to heal).

I apologize to all of you who have expressed an interest in doing old school raids - I've dropped the ball. I've been so caught up in other things (kid's sports, changing guilds, etc.) that I haven't been able to devote much time to this project - again, my apologies. Rest assured, this endeavor will be re-kindled in the near future.

No problem! Real life has hit me hard and neither my druid nor my priest are of level for it. No rush at all!

WHO IS READY TO RAID! First raid will be scheduled on the guild calendar. I'm thinking that I will schedule one every two weeks so that we can have a little bit of structure without being slaves to a schedule. DETAILS Our first raid will be (drumroll, please)................ Zul'Gurub! This is a 20-person raid and presently, according to my unofficial review of our guild, we have 60 toons level 58 (minimum to enter) to 65, so it will be open to those levels. All classes are, of course, welcomed and encouraged to attend. Unfortunately, it looks like we may have a limited number of healers in this range, so make sure you can bandage or pay for repairs! I'm hopeful that this will be a low-stress, high-fun, event, and am looking forward to starting our vanilla raiding. I'll put a time on the calendar and then adjust based upon response, but initially, at least, am leaning toward a Sunday afternoon event.

I'm game...however...I have since leveled to 74...are we putting a max on this? Or can anyone above 58 join in?

While being cognizant of the fact that some do not necessarily want to face-roll this content and would prefer to try it "at level" (even though I am overlevel myself), I will most likely invite everybody in the guild above 58 (since that's the raid requirement) and see what kind of response I get. If we have enough interest, maybe two groups can be formed. But, of course, that depends upon the sign-ups we get and since I have not even posted it on the calendar, it is a little premature to think about. However, the goal is, without question, everybody who is desirous of participating, will go. Now, how we go about accomplishing that remains to be seen.
Long story, short. Everybody above 58 invited, take stock of interest, react accordingly.
