Firstly many thanks to all those who have donated to the purchase of our (now five!!) bank tabs, and to all the obsessive-compulsives out there who keep it tidy Since SAN began, there's always been free repairs from the bank, and a potential withdrawl limit of 2g per day. I set this up so that when we were all rolling up our first level 1 character on a new server, the logistics of very early levelling weren't too agonisingly painful. However, now that we're all a bit bigger, and, actuallly, now that we even have a handful of 80s, I wonder if this still sensible? I'm happy to keep it that way if that's what people want but I didn't want to set up a system in which some people were unwittingly funding other people. On the other hand, SAN does still get new members occasionally ... Does anybody have any thoughts? As an interim measure, I've temporarily turned off gbank repairs and the withdrawl limit for all ranks except ooze, the thought being that if somebody new does join the guild they can get a bit of a financial boost until they get themselves settled... I know this is totally topsey-turvey (lower ranks get moar stuff!) but, as I say, it's an interim measure until we decide how to handle it. Input appreciated!

IIRC there was a brief doscussion in gchat about this the other day and again, IIRC, most people felt that whilst it was fab when we were all new - it wasn't so necessary now. Just my tuppence worth Pilf x

I helped me a lot at the beginning to get a few golds to buy new spells. Keep those 2-3 golds, it's not much and it helps. People giving to the guildbank do it to help, they know it's for newbies and I don't think they would give it if it wasn't for helping others.
Repairs are not very useful though, I didn't turned it on, and people, especially level 80, should be able to fund their repairs.
The solution to give newbies a rank when they can withdrawn a few golds to begin with and have guild repairs may need time from guild "officers", to keep the ranks tidy. But using the level maybe : new people stay ooze until level 20, then we assume they can fund themselve, you just have to, once in the week, check low level guildies and promote those needing it. Could be a solution.

The two golds come handy as a booster when you start a new toon: get some bags to support yourself. After that, the playing -even full RP- should cover the costs more or less... most of the time on the less side, but that's how the game is designed.

In terms of cash, I've never actually taken any out or used gbank-repairs on my main but I agree they're very useful for new starters. I would have thought that there's a kind of unspoken thing that most higher level guildies can afford their own repairs etc. and that for the most part, the bank is mostly used to donate lower level stuff. (Just my opinion, though!) As such I don't think we need anything as formal as only low ranks can withdraw gold. It might be useful to have a post somewhere with some SAN Bank Rules on there, though. In every guild I've been in, I've always been a bit reticent to withdraw stuff from the gbank... I don't really know why! Just being too polite about it, I suppose. The bank is always chock-full of stuff, so it might be good to have some rules which explain that it's fine for people to actually take stuff! I took a bunch of engineering related items this w/end but I also donated some gold in return.

I do take the odd mats and recipies out but hopefully should be putting enough gold back in - spending a few hours at the mo grinding up mining on my DK - tho its going very slowly (I was using thousand needles for the Tin bit and for once every other damned node was iron.... oh and yes it is now the opposite now I need iron ) so should be some moar golds soon( tm) still we could set out ranks based on level 'groups' 1-20 21-40 41-60 61-80 and have a tab for each goup wiht different withdrawl levels etc depends how much management time someone wants to put in

Thanks for the replies, and the thoughts. It seem that people are, in general, pretty laid back about the bank - which is good. I don't particularly want to set up too many guild ranks as, well, it's SAN, everybody's a member. How about then: 1. We turn off repairs permanently since it's not very useful and there's huge disparity between the bills of a level 2 and a level 69. 2. I'll set up ooze and critter so they can withdraw 2 gold a day, as starting capital, and member so that you can't. And when people hit level 20 I'll promote them to member and assume you can fund yourself. 3. I shall be more active in berating people to take stuff OUT of the gbank as well as putting stuff into it!
