Hey there. I thought this was the potentially right place to post a „looking for“ thing. It's like this...
*rambles on endlessly about stuff*
Right. What I meant to say.
I'm currently tanking in one of four 10-man raidgroups on the Aszune server. We are making decent progress – but we raid only one night a week. We also have a wild mix of raiding „attitude“ (for lack of a better word)... some of the people in there are quite content with seeing the content once, some want to raid several times a week through the same content to get better gear from badges. Unfortunately it seems I'm currently the only one interested in doing it „properly“ and going for the heroic versions.
At the current rate of progression I don't really expect us to kill the Lich King before Cataclysm launches. And it turns into another round of Ulduar and ToC – where we meander through the normal content without putting any effort in.
This sounds worse than it really is. We are having a good time most nights – but there are things that annoy me now and then (like having trash respawn in the second wing of ICC at 23.00 server time and deciding to call it a night instead of going for Putricide again). However, I currently want more.
So … I am looking for a 25-man raiding guild working on ICC – ideally with a progression that approaches the Lich King and wants to go for heroic versions in the very near future (aiming slightly above my current content seems the way to go). I've seen a few recruitment posts by guilds currently working on 10/12 ICC heroic or some such – and I have to say I don't think I'd be up for that. My reflexes are not what they used to be (about 30 years ago).
So... how do I sell myself. Hmm.
I've been tanking for a while now. Started back in the good old days when Dire Maul was released as the new instance of choice. It was hard and all – I mean.. probably not harder than Scholomance, but for Scholomance proper people brought a 10-man raid. I have some tanking experience on all four “proper” classes: My warrior and druid are running ICC groups now, my deathknight has not tanked since Ulduar and my paladin never really got past the Naxxramas stage. I am not terribly interested in playing anything but my warrior, though. Nerfs and buffs come and go, but the main strengths of the class always stuck around – high mobility and a certain “jack of all trades” approach to tanking. Well.. and enough spell interrupts to make it worth playing.
My current gear approaches BiS for the 10-man raiding we do. I say this loosely, because I could probably PUG VoA-25 for the tier gloves (and a fierce “bluergh” on the legs) and might eventually get a token for my headpiece from a PUG as well. I suppose I am aware of a better tanking weapon from the Lich King himself, but as I mentioned earlier – I don't think we'll get him anytime soon.
Assuming that progression guilds usually clear content in the “previous” gear this should mean I'm sort of equipped for the stuff I want to do with my new future guild.
I don't think I can sell my charming personality properly in a post. I have no idea if I would fit into an existing guilds in-jokes and mocking of the sacrificial-mage-on-duty. However, I can't see a way to work this out in advance. It's ultimately a risk both side will have to take.
What do I want to invest and expect?
I'd like to go raiding two (to an absolute max. of three) days a week. In the evenings, so I can make some food for the kid and my wife before I pretend to disappear. The days are pretty much a non-issue: any of them would work.
I do have to work and I love my holidays and such, so I'll probably be away a few weeks every year. Currently I'd calculate with 8 weeks per year away – which still gives roughly 80% raid attendance over a larger timeframe. I'd like to see 25-man raiding from a tank perspective – and was hoping for a guild that can point out mistakes (“you really should have used Shieldwall before Inhale three there to smooth over the transition”) instead of summing up failed attempts with “Let's do it again with less dying”.
I am also hoping for some sort of spontaneous raids on the off-nights. 10-mans, older content (Starcaller would be _such_ a nice title) and such would be lovely – but I'm not quite willing to play on those days for years in advance. This family thing is too important.
I'm currently a dwarf warrior on the Aszune(EU) server. I'll obviously have to stay European (not the least for the timezone), but any server and side would work.
Finally some “statistics” for quick reference:
We're talking about this character: eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aszune&cn=Koch
The talent specs were both chosen on purpose. Especially the “off-spec” one should cause a raised eyebrow or three – and I'm aware of their raid shortcomings. They are obviously negotiable.
If you feel like you could find a spot for a warrior tank, give me a shout. I'm too timid to transfer servers without talking to someone first.
Thanks.
