Hi everyone ! It seems that the EU bloggers are from all countries and languages, and I create this thread for those who need help with languages. I, for example, can't get why Kum makes everyone laugh, but it's not a big deal. ;D Let's have huge discussions here about how everything looks more sexy in French (do you really think French is sexy ? oO ) or how would you call your "significant other". Every language is accepted of course.

I will put you out of your misery, Nef... I'm afraid giggling at Kum is incredibly puerile. It's English slang for, err, ejaculate or ejaculation depending on whether you want to use it as a noun or a verb. Hence all the "Kum over Azeroth" jokes.
*hangs head in shame*
It was entirely accidental... I wasn't TRYING to name my character after spooge (further English slang for the same, err, material). I was TRYING to name him after an exotic orange fruit.
And YES, everything does sound SO much better in French. I was well into "les yeux de betes" or whatever it is correctly in French. Eyes of the beast, in English, sounds like what it is but in French it sounds like like some kind of sexy bedroom look. Rawr.

*sells ropes, good prices ! Tested and approved by my GM and RL...*
It seems that I opened Pandore box with this thread... I will say byebye to my innocence then... ;D Anyway, people were laughing so much when they called you Kum that it made me laugh without understanding why.

I do apologise most sincerely for any damage to your innocence ...
Well, now you know how childish we all are!

I don't think everything is sexier in French, but I do like the sound of the language. I love languages, actually - I know Romanian (native) and English, and I took Spanish and French classes. My Spanish is better than my French, but I can understand both fairly well.
As far as WoW goes, I played for a bit on a Spanish server (with an English client), but it was hard. The slang is so so different from the English one, clicking on items to see wtf they translate to was annoying, and my vocabulary relates more to day to day items than gaming. I have a character somewhere on a French server too, but I don't think she got past the login screen...

I'm English and have never heard of this one, rofl. I think think this one is mostly American. We use it over here, anyway.

Everything IS sexier in French! It's been ten years since I took my French classes, not that knowing it would help me much in my daily life.
Only languages I'm interested in learning are Chinese (for work) and Vietnamese (so I can understand what my fiance's parents are saying at the dinner table) but I've proven myself to be absolutely terrible at learning anything other than English.

I honestly find everything sexier in Italian THEN French.
I'm fluent in both Spanish and English (though English is my second language) and know enough Italian and French to hold my own in a conversation.

I was TRYING to name him after an exotic orange fruit. Kumquats! Little oranges. Used to pick them from the tree as a kid. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kumquat

We all could use some lessons in Italian (on the europe-server that is).
As some of you may have noticed while using the LFD, we are in the same battlegroup as Crushridge, And it seems all non-italian speaking people have fled there, because most of the times (and I have some experience, having 4 lvl80's on AD, allie-side) that I am in a LFD-pug with 2+ crushridges, only italian is being typed...

For some reason I never liked Italian... just sounds wrong to me. Ironic, since it's the closest language to Romanian. (On the bright side, knowing Spanish+Romanian meant I could go to Italy and understand everything.) Moar languages talk, I like it!
(Oh, and I loved the international Vent. I'm usually shy about my accent when there's only native English speakers...)

Italian FTW.
It's the only thing I'm fluent in other than English in a northern accent.
As for spooge, I've heard it but not used it. My particular favourite is "Jizz".
And as for my significant other, I'm afraid I'm a terribly girly. I use all the typical girly terms that I probably shouldn't but he's usually just "Mike". If I'm annoyed at him, I call him Michael.
And when he's offending druids I go with "dickhead".
