We've got the hi-freakin-larious FlagRSP thread underway (who do I send the cleaning bill to for the coffee I spit onto my shirt?); I thought it'd be nice to share what we've got in ours. I've never RP'd before, so it was with some trepidation that I sat down to think about what makes lil Iubit tick. Thanks to Hadawako's how-to-rp series, I gleefully swiped some character traits from Anyanka (former vengeance demon, a la Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and set about cluttering up my UI. Here's what I came up with: (Sorry no screenshot. I can't do screenies. I take them and Windows Vista vanishes them into the ether. For reals.) Iubit Sprogapple
Frank and strangely literal, Iubit seems to have forgotten or failed to learn the use of tact.
She can often be seen sporting a bandage or a bruise, although it is seldom clear whether these injuries were the result of her own clumsiness or something she said.
Iubit was angling for the Fruit Seller job in Ironforge, but lost out to Bimble Longberry. This outrage has fueled a lifelong animosity toward Bimble, berries, and food vendors in general.
Iubit is inexplicably terrified of rabbits. (Feedback welcome. I showed you mine, now you show me yours)

A bit of feedback. I'll get mine up here later. The character description is meant for physical description only and should also be rather neutral. Meaning that your description should not tell other players how they should react to your looks (if that makes sense). Background story and personality should not be included, although a physical description can give certain hints. The two first lines of your description is fine, even though the first one might be pushing it a bit. The two latter ones however are not physical descriptions, but rather describe background story and personality. Of course none of these are rules per se, it's just the general conception of how you're supposed to use the mod. I tend to say that I'd like get to know a character's personality and background through RPing, while the description is only for first impression. Think of it this way. A description should not tell another player more than you would be able to tell about a person you walked passed on the street. Hadawako posted a good example.

My Troll Shaman, Djaboo. Recently race changed so I have yet to come up with a story for him.

This is mine for my Undead Warlock:
Gregory Standing Short blond hair and pale blue eyes. An expressive face that frequently goes from mild puzzlement to astonished laughter and back again. Overall, Gregory has the appearance of someone who, after leaving private education, has spent most of his working life in mid-level accountancy.

I love Djaboo's, it's so perfect for a troll with just the right amount of unusual. Never heard a troll's posture described as "feline" And the Gregory Standing one is nice and short, straightforward but room for lots of unknowns. Great stuff. Here's my Death Knight's, I tried to keep it as "first impressions" obvious as possible while adding some details that could serve as conversation starters. Criticism is welcome! I was considering mentioning the ubiquitous unholy ghoul, but wasn't sure about it. Chaiah Stormsong(yes, the surname is cheesy, but so are all WoW surnames)Edit: This is the pre- and during Outlands description I used: This is the description I'm using since coming to Northrend: Edit: updated!

I must admit that I'm so far muted of performance anxiety, unable to write anything. Don't want it to be too much of a cliché I suppose. And then there's also the problem that I actually see my character on screen. It's a bit hard to disregard of. She has a certain length, skin etc. Can I just disregard of this and describe things that clearly aren't there? Or is that what the description is about? To find up things that are not available from the graphics? How do you experienced rp:ers think about this? The glitch between what's on the screen and what you describe. What freedoms can you take without having to go through an RMT skin remake to make it true?

I always tend to describe height and weight since it's natural that people are different, even though the in game models aren't. The other thing I tend to describe are small details that aren't visible (Or there at all). So I guess you in a way can disregard part of what you see, it's a fine line.
Clichés are a fine line as well. I find that the biggest issue is that too many is trying to be unique (bastard child of Illidan and Arthas type). Try to come up with something that fits the personality and background for your story while still keeping your feet on the ground. If you are able to make it unique as well, that's great!

Slightly off-topic, but I've started gathering an RP set and could help but to share it. Planning on getting matching axes, possibly a harness-type chest piece and the AB 60 PvP pauldrons.

I'm bad with screenies, but this is my text:
Herbalist Syrien [She will get a name when she tells me what it is, silly cow]
Syrien looks young, and seems to have a slightly taken aback expression on her face - mouth half open, staring at the world around her. She walks with a flowing, relaxed stride, except when startled. Her clothes are worn but well cared for, and clean except a little dirt on her knees. Her belt pouches seem to be a bit overfilled with flowers and skins. One peacebloom is almost falling out.

I have myself declared as 'storyteller'. I blame running campaigns as a ST for too long. It's actually pretty bad, but at least it's not unique special snowflake sue/stu bad. "Jus this guy, y'know?" Nobody in particular.
A fairly stoic and freckle-faced male blood elf Paladin in his early thirties standing at an average height. His hair is shoulder length and brushed back out of his face and he usually wears goggles that obscure his eyes. Zan is easily identified as a tinkerer from his goggles and is sometimes seen with assorted collection of silly gadgets that usually do more harm than good. He wears armor typical of a Paladin and aside from his engineering toys there's nothing unusual or particularly interesting about him.
From further observations, one would gather that this stoic Paladin is something of a loner and seems to avoid others whenever possible. Every now and then he smirks slightly to himself. What's with this guy?

(Sorry no screenshot. I can't do screenies. I take them and Windows Vista vanishes them into the ether. For reals.) Because of Vista's crazy security features, it stores WoW screenshots in a hidden folder. You can access them here: C:\users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Screenshots

Oh God. Intimidated!
Um, Kum's reads:
"This troll seems an amiable fellow, grinning gormlessly behind his tusks. He is clearly not the sharpest totem in the box."
I suppose I owe him a bit better than that... I might give him a title as well. Maybe Kumquat the Hapless.
