Fairly simple. I'm curious what the majority of the people in here play. Horde or Alliance? If you play both, then vote on the side your main is. Feel free to elaborate on why you ended up or prefer either side.

I started out Horde, and played there for my first year and a half, but then BC came out and I fell in love with draenei. They've got the hooves, horns and tails of Tauren, but the blue skin of trolls. A combination of my two favorite horde races =)
Too bad SAN-US is on Alliance. A guild like this could have been one of the few things that could have convinced me to play Horde again. That and playable Dragonkin.

Horde for me. I initally rolled Horde because my husband's main was Horde. Then, playing a Tauren Shaman, I fell in love with the Tauren race, with Mulgore, with Thunder Bluff. I'm a big fan of Blood Elves, too -- can't resist the pretty. I also thought it was really nifty that I could have one of each pre-LK class using only Tauren and Blood Elves and only have one class (Hunter) overlap between the two races. No other combination of races could do that! I also really love Trolls, though I've been too busy with Tauren and Elves to play one yet -- so I'm really excited about playing a Troll Druid come Cataclysm.
None of the Alliance races appeal to me quite as much as the Tauren do -- but on the other hand, none of the Alliance races are as distasteful to me as the Forsaken. And perhaps when I've played Alliance toons more here in SAN, I'll find an Alliance race I love (almost) as much as the Tauren.

I've mainly played Alliance. I've dabbled Horde a bit here or there. Even raided in TBC as a Tauren druid on my off nights. The problem was always finding a good guild. I seemed to always find a better on Alliance side. Plus the large size of Tauren can be annoying even with forms.

For me, it's not the appeal of the faction itself, it's individual races.
I started out Alliance pretty much happenstance. Both my mains are night elves and the ethereal classic faerie feel of Teldrassil really appeals to me even after several years.
Last summer, some friends invited me to join them on Thorium Brotherhood horde side. They soon transferred out, but I'm still there, really enjoying seeing the world through new eyes on my horde toons. I fell in love with the taurens first for their great lore, and then slowly grew to appreciate the grit of the orcs too. In fact, now I love my orc shammy so much as an orc, I couldn't bear to faction change her to join SAN (US).
The only races I haven't really enjoyed are dwarves, humans, and Forsaken. Dwarves just don't suit me. Forsaken I find too dark, cursed with a lousy starting zone. I really don't like playing a human and find running CoT painful, as I have to remember not to dance for fear of macarena overdose.

Alliance. I initially rolled Alliance because my boyfriend was a night elf, and I rolled a human because all the other races looked so... alien. I even tried to make her look like myself!
Until about a month ago, I'd never had a "serious" horde alt, all seemed to get abandoned around level 15. Now I'm leveling a tauren with friends, and of courset there's Avilion.
Why Alliance anyway? Because of the looks. It's that simple. I'm not into lore or anything, so I want my game to look pretty. Grouping with green fanged people, people with bones sticking out or 'ya mon' with creepy fingers is not pretty.

I started out as a Horde, and haven't changed in all my time playing WoW. I've often tried to start an alliance character or two to see what the quests are like from their perspective, but I always lose interest. My highest level alliance character is a Night Elf Druid who is only level 10.
The main factor stopping me from playing Alliance is that I couldn't stand having to play with gnomes!

I've always played Alliance. My first character was a night elf, i didnt even have to think about that, elves are IT for me! My main (i suppose) is still my nelf (male!) rogue. I couldn't stand the humans, dwarves or gnomes, when BC came out i completely fell in love with the draenai. I would have every single class as draenai if i could...My 2nd 80 became a female draenai resto shaman, and my 3rd 80 a strong male draenai prot warrior. Then i tried a female gnome warlock cause over the years they gnomes started growing on me, and she is lvl 66 now. I've dabbled a bit with the Horde characters, and totally love the Tauren feel and lore. I like the blood elves cause they're so haugty and sexy (both male AND female), and i like the accents of the trolls, but i only like the looks of the male trolls. Orcs and Forsaken are a big nono for me.

I started out Alliance, found my current guild about 3 years ago, and haven't been able to drag myself away since! The main problem for me with rolling a horde alt, is that to really spend significant time there is to be away from my guild for a long time, and I've been lonely levelling on my own. SAN is the perfect answer

I play both. Like to think I'm a die hard Hordey but I really do enjoy the Alliance side of the game.

Horde if and only if the Worgen aren't as cool as they are meant to be when Catacalysm launches

I'm Alliance because I love the night elves, female night elves are really the model I prefer. I love their blue skin and their long ears (blood elves ears are pathetically small...), they look fit and powerful. And I love Teldrasil and Ashenvale, those places are beautiful. I'm a wild night elf at heart.
Some friends transfered factions a few months ago and I nearly made my nelf a troll, but I couldn't. My huntress is a nelf, and will stay a nelf. I'd rather roll another character.
A have a draenei DK but I'm not very fond of the model, and my priest is a female dwarf because I rolled her with my boyfriend's paladin who is a dwarf in his heart... I quite dislike the model. I think one day she will end up nelf or troll...
Trolls is the only Horde model I love, they are so cool mon ! And I got a baby tauren druid, the model is ok.

I've played both factions quite a bit. Leveled up several times on both sides and raided on both sides, but I will always be Horde at heart. Whenever I've played Alliance it has been because that's where my friends were at the time. Lore and the attitude of races are almost as important to me as the looks. Of the Alliance races Dwarves and Gnomes are really the only ones I've liked. Humans are well... human, when playing I fantasy game I usually prefer to play something different from my self, plus the male human model is terrible. Nelfers have always come across as a bit stuck up and holier than thou (the race, not the people playing them) to me. And they're purple... I'm half way expecting them to start sparkling *shudder*. The Draenei suffers from the same problem as the human one in my opinion and I find the eastern European accent a bit cheesy. All that's left are the Gnomes who can be a bit hard to take serious, but fun none the less. Dwarves also have some sense of comedy to them, but a bit less so then the gnomes. My main reason for prefering Horde isn't that I dislike the Alliance races that much (hope I'm not coming across as an Alliance hater ), but my love for the Tauren and Trolls. I like everything about them. The looks, the architecture, attitudes and lore. I eventually grew to like the Forsaken, they fit me perfectly when I'm in a bad mood, but some of the zones can get a bit too dark and gloomy at times. *wall of text that was supposed to be a few lines crits you for over 9000.*

I started Alliance and I've been there ever since despite levelling a horde warrior to 80.
I don't know what it is - I like the models on alliance more and I've always played the "good" faction in any mmo even though after a while playing WoW I realised it wasn't typical.
I'd say I can only play 2 horde races - troll and tauren because the others are just too ugly/boring.
With trolls and dwarves I have to turn the in game sounds off. Hearing accents so bad they're almost racist annoys me.
