Well, as a newbie and first timer in RP side of MMO (I mean really RPing while playing...) I have encountered two distinct issues which I find problematic in WoW.
First of all is dying. If we think of a normal WoW character, it will die a lot and dying is just an annoyance to the player. However, when you compare that rate of dying to any WoW related fiction, you'll notice that it shouldn't be so: dying is something that should be avoided at all costs.
So how to cope with the character death in the game?
The other thing I find very much problematic is the LFD type teleporting into the instance... there is no way in hell to accept or explain the sudden tearing of time and space which tosses the unexpecting character into a dwindling maze. This is not Dr.Who MMO, and even in that one it wouldn't make any sense... well, maybe some but not that much. Maybe in SG-1 sort of MMO, where everything is cool for that one mcguffin which... ehem.
How to cope with that?
The easiest solution is to leave them out of the narrative. Then again, when and if I'm trying to lead the RP life of my character as much as possible with my -sorry, his- feet on the ground, this seems very hard to cope with.
Any ideas, suggestions, commentary or solutions?
Does anyone even understand what I am rambling about?
(oh, crud, they are snoring in the front row already... I'm off...)

I think the _only_ thing to do is accept that somethings just don't fit. Otherwise I would suggest: not dying But seriously, there are a fair few things that can't be - for example, where does your mount go when you dismount and how to you get it back? Personal bugbear of mine... How do hearthstones work if you have no magical incantation... If teleporting into the instance bugs you (understandably) how do you explain triumphing over bosses who then are reborn to be killed again... and on and on. Most things can be blamed on the Nether as far as I'm concerned... But I _do_ get where you're coming from Copra, all you/we can do is try to keep our immersion as real as possible and except that there are limitations. Pilf x

Pilf, it's kind of 'close your eyes and remember, you're not in Kansas anymoar!' kind of thing. I'd like to have at least some sort of explanation to myself, "It's a kind of magic" doesn't work anymore as it isn't in the official fiction nor lore, either. Oh, and I will do my best to stay alive. It's just neigh impossible to run away from the monsters, as they are usually faster than the meager hunter... for the time being, ofc. Issy, thanks for the reads!
